Details

This wine intrigues me. 4 different cultivars from 3 different areas. They are all specialised cultivars. Not many people make them. This is the ultimate wine, combining ancient wine history with a new world twist. All the cultivars in this blend hail from ancient Spain (some of them date back to 500BC). Some say that they were first found growing in Southern France. But then, Northern Spain and Southern France are just a border post away from each other. The cultivar combination is based on French tradition but groundbreaking for South Africa. So this wine is a blend of 42% Mourvèdre, 24% Carignan, 24% Grenache Noir and 10% Cinsaut. And YES, I think it could be the best wine BLANKbottle had so far, but then again, I always say that...... The Mourvèdre and the Cinsaut are from Wellington, the Carignan from the Swartland and the Grenache noir, unfortunately I am not allowed to tell.... The Mourvèdre is dark in colour with spice and sweet oakiness after spending 24 months is American oak. The Carignan and the Grenache Noir gave this wine its length, it filled the mid pallet with sweet fruit (24 months in French Oak). The Cinsaut made the wine elegant, refined and gave if fines. Drinking this wine is like walking barefeet in mud. The warm mud peels through your toes, it covers your feet, it goes into and through every gap. It encompasses your feet. This wine is the same. It’s not precise. It’s round, soft and juicy. It encompasses your pallet, from side to side through every gap it covers. Warm, velvety and lingering. I’ll give this wine a 4 and a half star. And remember: if you do not like it, simply return it and make use of my 100% money back guarantee. And the price = R59 a bottle. Analysis: ALCOHOLIC STRENGTH: 14% per vol.
